Oliver was born early today (February 5) after an extended labor, starting just after the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. I briefly suggested we name our child Eli after Super Bowl XLII MVP, Eli Manning. Lindsey was not necessarily amused.
Oliver's birth weight was 6 pounds, 3 ounces and he was 19 and 3/4 inches long. He was born with a head of black hair and an orange tint from jaundice, giving him a slightly Mediterranean complexion.
Oliver was known as Baby Finnegan until Thursday (February 7) when Lindsey and I decided on the name Oliver Ryan Finnegan. Previously we had discussed using the double name John Oliver, but when the hospital staff began referring to him simply as John we were slightly disappointed. We really liked the name Oliver. Thus baby Finnegan became baby Oliver Finnegan.
